Samuel Amant
Your techno-economic aquaculture consultant.
At sixteen, my biology teacher didn’t allow me to build a Salmon RAS system in school, but the idea of aquaculture stuck and never left. Throughout the years, I’ve studied, built, and scaled sea-based-, IMTA-, RAS-systems and/or companies.

First encounter with aquaculture
During high school, I outlined the future food systems, including theoretical aquaculture systems such as IMTA, LTA and RAS systems.
2017 till 2022
University at KU Leuven and LUSEM
- BSc in Industrial Engineering Technology
- MSc in Biochemical Engineering, option Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology.
Thesis: Modelling and optimisation of an Anaerobic Digestion System (ADM1). - MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Extracurricular activities: Chief Scout Leader with end responsibility for policy and all operations. Contact point for all different parties consisting of 300+ members and 70+ leaders.
2020
- Daily monitoring for a microalgae RAS system
- Optimisation of cultivation conditions of the RAS system, and
- Enhancement of the techno-economic feasibility and stability of the production process.
2022.
Process manager @ Nordic Seafarm
Optimisation of seaweed biomass process lines handling raw biomass
2022.
Market Analyst @ Mudcake
Mapping the latest developments in the blue food sector for an investment company, such as key market players and emerging technologies on fish heathy, feed sourcing, effluent handling, and offshore- and RAS-systems.
2021 and ongoing
Founder & CEO @ KOASTAL
KOASTAL is building an aquaculture production organisation (PO) by aggregating LTA SME’s for collective operations and downstream development to supply commodity markets.
- From scratch, outlined and implemented the company vision through an ever-changing macro-economic business landscape.
- Raise 5MSEK in public and private funding as seed capital.
- Scout, onboard and manage internal and external (farmers) team.
- Oversee the engineering, sourcing, installation and testing various different sea-based cultivation systems and biomass supply streams.
- Co-develop over 10 new farming facilities in Sweden and Denmark.
- Establish and maintain supplier and buyer relationships.
Awards: Änglemarkspriset, LU Innovation award, RISE award, Young Founder award.
1998 till now.
Salmonidae enthousiast
Taking biodiversity measurements of Salmonidae population in various European ecosystems in my spare time.
Offer
what I can bring to the table
I’m a techno-economic project lead in aquaculture. I help teams move innovations from concept or pilot into scalable operations by bridging engineering constraints with business impact, cost structure, feasibility, execution planning, and stakeholder coordination. I’m most useful when you need someone who can understand the technology, run the project, and translate it into decisions.
Techno-economic assessment
I build decision-grade techno-economic models (CAPEX/OPEX, unit economics, and sensitivity scenarios) to quantify feasibility, trade-offs, and the conditions required for profitability.
Project coordination
I run projects end-to-end by aligning stakeholders, setting clear plans and deliverables, managing risks, and keeping execution on track against timelines and outcomes.
Scale-up support
I translate pilot results into scalable operations by codifying learnings into SOPs, defining KPIs, and shaping a practical operational plan for rollout.
